‘Exploring Cabin Country’ Makes It to Print

Many thanks to Adirondac editor Neal Burdick, who is retiring from that role this year after a long and distinguished run, for making Exploring Cabin Country the magazine's centerspread in the September/October issue. We thank him also for permitting us to republish that four-page feature. It's our sequel to Rediscovering the First Wilderness, which ran in last year's September/October issue.

We also thank our coauthors, who gave their time generously in allowing us to "mine" their knowledge in recorded interviews focused on the Apperson/Schaefer/Zahniser throughline. To learn more, browse our Collaborative History.

Now we're shifting our focus to producing content for the Greater Gore Region Story Map and the GPS Tour. We're going from chronological to spatial, writing the GPS markers that will trigger "play" on our phones as we approach.

Here's more on our approach. Experts and students, please join us.
